Dear Lord, help me to be a true
Homemaker!
May I have the strength and the will to do the humble tasks, that make a house a fit abode for my loved ones. Clean floors, shining china, dainty curtains, clean sheets, good food, a cheery fire-may my willing hands make these things possible.
But Father, let me remember that man does not live by bread alone, that material things but make a proper setting for life's real treasures of mind and spirit. Give me patience and understanding and kindness and humor and love in abundance, and charity for all. May the spirit of happiness, of joys and sorrows shared, of unity, of the peace that passeth understanding linger here! Help me to keep the path to Thee open and easy to find for the little ones in my keeping. And let there be laughter here.
And last, dear Lord, help me to remember the stranger without the door. May there be warmth enough on our hearth to share with him.
Is this too much for one so weak, so full of faults as I, to ask? At least it can be a goal toward which to strive, and to Thee all things are possible. Amen

up and down

Does it make you

wonder why the cost of gold has gone so crazy over the past few years? And the last year just crazy nuts! HHMMM does it have anything to do with our dollar being worth nothing?? I wonder. I wonder what our Presidential candidates would say on this matter??????
This might all sound really good to most people. But we need to take a deeper look into this. It makes it sound like this is all for "helping Americans". But it can be very easily used against us. What if Americans, whom have decided to speak out against Government corruption is the problem?
If while reading this no part of you is shocked or a little upset,,,,,,get your pulse checked, make sure you are still alive! This is a word of caution to you and your alarm going off, telling you to wake up!!!! Read your Constituion! Be Informed! Get active!
3rd Infantry’s 1st BCT trains for a new dwell-time mission. Helping ‘people at home’ may become a permanent part of the active Army
By Gina Cavallaro - Staff writerPosted : Monday Sep 8, 2008 6:15:06 EDT

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.
Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.
Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.
It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.
But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.
“Right now, the response force requirement will be an enduring mission. How the [Defense Department] chooses to source that and whether or not they continue to assign them to NorthCom, that could change in the future,” said Army Col. Louis Vogler, chief of NorthCom future operations. “Now, the plan is to assign a force every year.”
The command is at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo., but the soldiers with 1st BCT, who returned in April after 15 months in Iraq, will operate out of their home post at Fort Stewart, Ga., where they’ll be able to go to school, spend time with their families and train for their new homeland mission as well as the counterinsurgency mission in the war zones.
Stop-loss will not be in effect, so soldiers will be able to leave the Army or move to new assignments during the mission, and the operational tempo will be variable.
Don’t look for any extra time off, though. The at-home mission does not take the place of scheduled combat-zone deployments and will take place during the so-called dwell time a unit gets to reset and regenerate after a deployment.
The 1st of the 3rd is still scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan in early 2010, which means the soldiers will have been home a minimum of 20 months by the time they ship out.
In the meantime, they’ll learn new skills, use some of the ones they acquired in the war zone and more than likely will not be shot at while doing any of it.
They may be called upon to help with
civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack.
Training for homeland scenarios has already begun at Fort Stewart and includes specialty tasks such as knowing how to use the “jaws of life” to extract a person from a mangled vehicle; extra medical training for a CBRNE incident; and working with U.S. Forestry Service experts on how to go in with chainsaws and cut and clear trees to clear a road or area.
The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.
“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding. They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”
The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.
“I was the first guy in the brigade to get Tasered,” said Cloutier, describing the experience as “your worst muscle cramp ever — times 10 throughout your whole body.
“I’m not a small guy, I weigh 230 pounds ... it put me on my knees in seconds.”
The brigade will not change its name, but the force will be known for the next year as a CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF (pronounced “sea-smurf”).
“I can’t think of a more noble mission than this,” said Cloutier, who took command in July. “We’ve been all over the world during this time of conflict, but now our mission is to take care of citizens at home ... and depending on where an event occurred, you’re going home to take care of your home town, your loved ones.”
While soldiers’ combat training is applicable, he said, some nuances don’t apply.
“If we go in, we’re going in to help American citizens on American soil, to save lives, provide critical life support, help clear debris, restore normalcy and support whatever local agencies need us to do, so it’s kind of a different role,” said Cloutier, who, as the division operations officer on the last rotation, learned of the homeland mission a few months ago while they were still in Iraq.
Some brigade elements will be on call around the clock, during which time they’ll do their regular marksmanship, gunnery and other deployment training. That’s because the unit will continue to train and reset for the next deployment, even as it serves in its CCMRF mission.
Should personnel be needed at an earthquake in California, for example, all or part of the brigade could be scrambled there, depending on the extent of the need and the specialties involved.
Other branches included
The active Army’s new dwell-time mission is part of a NorthCom and DOD response package.
Active-duty soldiers will be part of a force that includes elements from other military branches and dedicated National Guard Weapons of Mass Destruction-Civil Support Teams.
A final mission rehearsal exercise is scheduled for mid-September at Fort Stewart and will be run by Joint Task Force Civil Support, a unit based out of Fort Monroe, Va., that will coordinate and evaluate the interservice event.
In addition to 1st BCT, other Army units will take part in the two-week training exercise, including elements of the 1st Medical Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas, and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Bragg, N.C.
There also will be Air Force engineer and medical units, the Marine Corps Chemical, Biological Initial Reaction Force, a Navy weather team and members of the Defense Logistics Agency and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
One of the things Vogler said they’ll be looking at is communications capabilities between the services.
“It is a concern, and we’re trying to check that and one of the ways we do that is by having these sorts of exercises. Leading up to this, we are going to rehearse and set up some of the communications systems to make sure we have interoperability,” he said.
“I don’t know what America’s overall plan is — I just know that 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines that are standing by to come and help if they’re called,” Cloutier said. “It makes me feel good as an American to know that my country has dedicated a force to come in and help the people at home.”

What must God be thinking of us?

Reading through Vaughnshire Farm blog- I must say that I agree so much with most everything I read on this blog. I do feel like God helped me find their blog-((since I have been reading and learning more about the women's role according to God and His Words from the Bible.)) I find that this is an area that most women don't know anything about-which seems very odd to me! I remember learning about women's rights in school. No one dared tell us the dirty evil side of this movement, or explain how "these brave women" changed my life, not so much for the better!. Now the more I learn, the more I see the real need to fight for women's rights. (not the right to vote or be president - but the right to stay home with my children, breast feed my babies, train as needed, and tend to the health of my family)
With all the buzz about Mrs. Palin, I have been very moved on how fellow Brother and Sisters in Christ have responded. Moved to sometimes tears (not of joy, but of a broken heart) other times I almost feel anger. Why anger? Because I am shocked at how Christians are playing this game of politics. Totally turning against what God has told us, for, what they call - HOPE!? I am left shocked, disgusted, and mournful. I wonder why we still teach about Eve being lead astray from God and her husband, while at the same time we so easily, almost joyfully, go astray ourselves. ----So I wanted to share what Beth from Vaughnshire Farm posted. Very well said, I must say. And If you feel "fed" from this portion on her post I encourage you to visit the link (listed on blogs that I follow, to the side) Read some more post and you will have some real "meat" to chew on!
Sarah is 44 and the mother of 5 children –19 years old and under. She
gave birth to a premature special needs newborn in April and returned to work 3
days after he was born. Now her 17 year old unmarried daughter
is 5 months pregnant and Sarah’s husband is…well, a stay-at-home
dad while Sarah parades around the country pursuing political fame.
Sarah says she can raise her children and run the nation and reading her flaming
feminist rhetoric is enough to send chills down my back.
Why doesn’t
this sound bizarre to the Christian community is the question I keep asking
myself? It is further proof that the majority of the Christian community
is so watered down in the sludge of cultural thought and gripped around the neck
by the lies of feminism, they can’t determine heads from tails if they
tried.
R.L. Dabney once quipped, “…when the mother shall have found
another sphere than her home for her energies; when she shall have exchanged the
sweet charities of domestic love and sympathy for the fierce passions of the
hustings (or politics); when families shall be disrupted at the caprice of
either party, and the children scattered as foundlings from their hearthstone,
it requires no wisdom to see that a race of sons will be reared nearer akin to
devils than to men. In the hands of such a bastard progeny, without
discipline, without homes, without a God, the last remains of social order will
speedily perish, and society will be overwhelmed in savage
anarchy.”
God does not mince words when He states his desires for
His women and places upon them the honored place and sphere that only a
woman can fill. Many choose to overlook the fact that He has already given
a clear picture of how we as women are to conduct ourselves as
pleasing servants of the Lord first and foremost. Titus 2:4-5
states, “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their
husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at
home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not
blasphemed.”
Dabney goes on to say, …”the very traits which fit her to be the
angel of a virtuous home unfit her to meet the agitations of political life,
even as safely as does the more rugged man. The hot glare of publicity and
passion will speedily deflower her delicacy and sweetness. Those
temptations, which her Maker did not form her to bear, will debauch her heart,
developing a character as much more repulsive than that of the debauched man as
the fall has been greater. The politicating woman, unsexed and
denaturalized, shorn of the true glory of her femininity, will appear to men as
a feeble hybrid manikin dwarf, with all the defects and none of the strength of
the male. Instead of being the dear object of his chivalrous affection,
she becomes his importunate rival, despised without being feared!”

Homeschool news

We have all heard a little bit about the news of homeschooling troubles in California. It's illegal, got overturned by it's not illegal. So What is the final outcome?
A California appeals court has ruled homeschooling of children illegal unless their parents have teaching credentials from the state. (The court overturned a lower courts finding that homeschooling did not constitute a violation o child welfare laws.)
This leaves the roughly 166,000 homeschooling children's parents at risk of arrest and criminal prosecution. ((you might take a moment to remind yourself that this is in America,,, not some other country were the government leaders are dictators!))
Justice H. Walter Croskey said, "parents do not have Constitutional right to homeschool their children." Croskey also wrote, " A primary purpose of the educational system is to train children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation."
According to executive director of Children's Law Center of Los Angels, Leslie Heimov,(whom is pleased with the court findings) "Children should not be educated at home, because they need to be - in a place daily where they would be observed by people who had a duty to ensure their ongoing safety."

I guess I don't understand why parents can't teach "citizenship, patriotism, and loyalty". And what is that about "observing to ensure their safety"?? How do they figure that it is not a Constitutional Right? Is this for real? This should outrage Americans, even if you don't homeschool. What are each of us going to do about this??? It could be your children next, and maybe what you feel is best for your children or family will be judged unconstitutional.

Turn to God,

Can we look to God to reach out and help our America? Can we as Americans, go along with our lives, doing what we have planned for the day, not taking the time to seek and learn what is really going on in our America. Is it not our DUTY as Americans and Christians, to learn and teach one another?
Our homes are torn apart, our churches have become weak, our schools teach lies, our food is not safe, our air is sprayed with chemicals, our water is giving us cancer, our money is worth next to nothing, our health looks to men and women in white coats, our girls are fighting in wars, our men look to women to take up the slack, our moms go to work, and our children have no idea what they are missing!
"We do marriage according to Dr. Phil, raise our children according to Dr. Spock, govern our sex lives according to Dr. Ruth, and only run to Dr. Jesus when things have gotten so bad we can't find another doctor to help us." (Voddie Baucham JR. Family Driven Faith)

What is my point??? I feel like, from the news I have, and the lies I know the public is being fed, some things are about to happen in our America that will leave us shocked. I urge people to be prepared. Should you pray,,,, please do, but don't just pray,,,, take action. God strengthens us through prayer,,,,,, much action is needed. I tell you this out of love,,. Our America is going to take a turn away from what we are use to,,,,,,how has this happened? Maybe a lack of God. A lack of men being men, women being women, our voted statesmen, Not being statesmen. The real answers lies with us. We the people have let this happen to our great America,,,, and we the people are the ones who need to stop turning to men in government to tell us how to live. We have the Bible, from our great God,,,,,,, why are we looking to man? We as Christians have left God out of our homes, our schools and in many ways our churches. How can we be shocked about what this brings?
My prayer is that we will pray, seek God's will, and take action!
If you like and approve of what is happening in America, go ahead and correct me,,show me how I am wrong,,,, if not seek truth and fight for God.

pot pie

I made some yummy potpie the other night. I was really happy with how it turned out. These things make me nervous to bake. I am worried that the crust on the bottom won't be done, or the filling won't be flavored enough, or the crust just won't work. Thankfully, everyone liked it, even the hubby- that's a hard one! So she called today to ask how I made it- I'm sure she will love it, too. Here is the recipe and a pic, (I used turkey, because that is what I had, also,, I am just a mommy cooking for my fam. this is not a cooking show and I don't really know what I am doing,,,,if your pie doesn't turn out all that great-try, try again)

Pot Pie (cook at about 350 temp.)

Melt 4T. butter (1/2 stick) in pot

add onions and garlic (to taste) cook a bit

add 2C. chicken stock, 1 1/2c. milk (or half and half)

salt, pepper, nutmeg, splash of lemon juice, parsley,

Add carrots, celery, peas, (or a bag of mixed frozen peas)

*I let this cook a bit* (low heat)

Next add 1/2c. Flour, mix well, cook a bit,

last add your meat,

let this cook while you prepare your dough,

**stir from time to time** (low heat)

Crust

wisk 1t. salt with 2/3c. really cold water until dissolved

(I kept it in the freezer while I got my flour stuff ready)

cut into small pieces 1c. cold butter (5T.)

scatter over 3c. flour ( I used my fingers, do this until well blended)

Add your water (it's in the freezer!) use your hands and mix it all end

divide into 2 balls

find out how large of a circle you need for your baking pan and roll out your dough,

(sprinkle a little flour on your table and roll out your dough) At this point I shut off the filling, put my crust on the bottom of pan (I used my cast iron skillet) pour in your filling, becareful it's hot! cut a few T. butter and scatter over filling and put on your top crust on. Next beat up one egg and rub on your top crust. WALLA! Stick it in the pre-heated oven. I don't know how long to cook. I just keep checking it every 10 or so min. and when the top crust looked good I took it out. If your hubby is starving, tell him it should cool a bit because it is pipping hot, but if he just can't be still, go ahead and let him at it.

Hope yours is yummy!

time well spent

An evening well spent. Seeing the sun set!
God is good!
Take the time to see His beauty!
XO mommy read

I love this man

It's not everyday that we learn of someone who is willing to risk it all for moral beliefs. When that sort of person comes around, you can know for sure that it's a gift from God. Godly gifts should be well respected and taken seriosly. That is how I feel about the wonderful Ron Paul! This is one amazing man. Just listening to him speak, tells you that the man knows his stuff. He is for sure the coolest person I have ever met! (Even if it was just for a moment) I'm still amazed! This man is fighting against "Big Brother", not just for his own, but for all of us, too. I highly recommend checking out his web sites. But beware,,,,,,, you might learn something!

things to come

My sister-in-law, is going to try to come and visit us this weekend. We are really looking forward in seeing her little man and how much he has grown, and of course showing off our little ones, too. Since she just found out that she is expecting another little blessing, I want to help make her feel REALLY comfy. I have this wonderful picture in my head of us eating, watching movies, and just doing a lot of visiting. (I'll be flexible, I know things don't always go the way my head sees it :-)
HHmmm, I'm thinking brownies, (or pie) mac. and cheese and garlic cheesy mashed potatoes, (or sweet mashed potatoes) some herb roasted Cornish hens. Still thinking about breakfast, I need to know what her favs. are.

So this is Monday and i am already thinking about the wkend! But until that comes, we have a load of things to do. With schooling and regular chores, plus everything else that comes up, I think we will stay busy.
One of my goals is for my home to run more smoothly! This is going to take a lot of work for me. I need to change how somethings are going and figure out how to smooth out the wrinkles. I know that this will make everything more pleasant at home, which is what I am working for. I want my girls to LIKE being home and look forward to having that life as they grow into womenhood.
All that said, I am working toward having a "NEST" that is cozy and warm. One step at a time. I plan on posting what "task" I am ironing at the time, with quotes and helpful hints that I found to be helpful. Plus, I hope that others who read my post (if anyone is even reading it!) will comment tips of their own.
I think us lady folks should be more encouraging of one another. Always remembering that each of us are our own, and have our own unique families. We may not alway agree with what each others says, but we are all women. We all love our families, and want the best for our little ones. That is really all that matters. If you don't want to use the advise posted on this blog, fine. That is for you to decide. If what you read makes you mad, you may want to find another blog to read. If I post anything that you think is wrong, I will review that, and if in fact I am wrong, I would be more than eager to post my wrongs. I have a lot of things to do in my days. I do not have time to deal with people posting ugly comments! Thank you xo

Nesting

The rain has pulled everyone indoors. This, along with the cool weather has me thinking about nesting! (not the prego. type :-)-the lets all get cozy type)
It has me thinking about how animals make their nest ready for their little ones. Animals are amazing. Nobody is in their face telling them how to prepare. They aren't reading mags. or watching the TV, they just listen to what God tells them. They do what comes natural, no second guessing. No worries about what is in fashion or what the church friends will think. The animals just know what is needed to do- and do it they do. Wow! God is always showing His Work to me. Thank You, God for the Wisdom You show us through Your World.
**I think that we should share our unworldly ways of nesting. What this means to me, is not doing what is "in" but what makes your family comfy!

making salsa

When we planted our little garden last spring, tomatoes were on my brain. I wanted all sorts of colors, size and flavor. The thing we all must remember about our plans, is that they might in fact not go our way. Which is how the whole tomato thing went. Not sure why, but the tomatoes just didn't produce like I had pictured it in my head. We will try harder next year, and we will just have to plant more tomato plants.
With that said I did get to make some really yummy salsa. (I should add that this was a group project, the Hubby and I made the salsa) It turned out wonderful. I had some for lunch the next day and just ate it like soup. We aren't real spicy people- but this most diffidently has a nice kick to it. Not sure if I will give out my secret ingredient or not--- maybe on Monday!
X O
**I am posting a pic. of the salsa- before and after,,,,,not sure the after pic. is as good look en as it is tasting!

making friends

I really feel odd telling others about my blog, mostly because I have read some really awesome blogs, and mine has a bit to be desired. However, without readers- well- the fun of having a blog is sort of missed. So I am spreading the word and whomever leaves a message will get put into a drawing for one really nice gift package. The package will be perfect for the new fall season and will be, of course, free of chemicals, and any other "bad" stuff. The big kicker is, you must spread the word. I must have at least 10 visitors. The deadline will be September 26, Friday. That's not much time, so spread the word fast my ladies! XO

FALL

August is over and fall is here! This cool weather just has my brain going crazy! So much to get ready for. Pumpkins are turning orange, and soon the trees will be turning all shades of yellows, red, orange, and brown. I really do love fall. At least the early part. Everyone is ready for a break from the heat. (Which I must say really wasn't too bad this year) The windows are open and cozy blankets are ready to be used. The children are a little ahead of me, they seem to want to skip right over fall and go into winter. (They have been playing Christmas music for a week now--I might have to "hide" those tapes for awhile:-))
But I must say that I too have been thinking about the giving of gifts. If I start now, I just might get some stuff done. I have been working on getting the craft-creativity room ready. This should make crafting much better.
And baking! Who isn't ready to do some baking!!??
Lots of plans for the end of this year- with Earl turning 1-Sophia getting ready to turn 3! and Thanksgiving coming!!!!!
I think I need to get all my ideas in order- before I forget what I was planning on. I am always looking for great ways to organize my ideas. Any tips from you all will be very much liked. (As long as you don't tell me to throw things away--that would defeat what I have been doing over the past few years!)

Remember

Seven Years have passed since the Twin Towers fell. So much happened that day. Everything seemed to be happening so fast, so hard to really understand what was going on. So many lives ended that day, and so many lives were changed forever. Still to this day, people are loosing their lives. Some in other counties, and many right here in America. Today, I not only ask you to remember the family of the soldiers that lost their lives in war, but I also ask you to remember the heroes who fought to save lives in the towers. So many of these men who help in the cleanup of the building rubble, are suffering still today. They are suffering from many health problems that have come from the work they did during those months that followed 9-11. So in remembrance of the live lost, and the lives that are still suffering, I ask you to REMEMBER. Take the time to find out more about that day, and what really happened on 9-11. Check out the web sites listed to find out more details that have been learned of since those weeks of "terror".

along for the ride,

Since we have lived on our little 5 acres, I have been so very amazed at how God has shown His love for our family. The most amazing way God has worked in my life has been through the people He has put into my life. Through these people I have grown in ways that I never knew would come my way. Through these people I have learned of subjects that, before I either had no idea of, or was not interested in. God has used so many people to lift me up and guide me as a wife and mother. For this I, my family, and hopefully the generation to come, will be stronger. Thank You God, for Your love. Thank You God for sending Blessings that I had not even asked for. And I pray that God will continue to strengthen me, so I can someday repay the blessings He sends me, by helping another women, whom, in turn, can reach out to others. xo

I am One

I am One, But I am strengthened by the all powerful God. What is good for God, is good for us. What is against God, is also against us. So I have to ask, why do we as Christians partake with the unholy? Why to we give into activities that won't speak God's name?
What are Christian standing on these days?
